Rebecca was presented with the option to do research on any complimentary and alternative medicine. The intern chose to do St. John's Wort because it can be used in so many conditions like mental disorders, nerve pain, sedation, bites, burns, wounds, cancer, HIV, depression and sleep disorders.

Outpatient Diabetic Class

The intern was given the opportunity to observe and participate in an outpatient diabetic class. The class consisted of 5 outpatients and their loved ones. This class offers diabetics to learn more in detail about the disease, complications, nutrition therapy, and how to monitor blood glucose levels. Not only does this class offer information, but it allows the participants to share their stories and relate to one another.    
 
 


Bariatric Support Group

7 bariatric outpatients were in attendance


Rebecca was given the opportunity to attend a support group for bariatric patients who shared their stories with each other. The class consisted of 1 outpatient who will be getting surgery and 6 people who have already had their surgery. Everyone was able to share their experience, ask each other questions, and just be another support system during the hard times.
