Travel The World in Five Days School Lunch Menu 

Objective

The National School Lunch Project will provide interns with an opportunity to become familiar with the National School Lunch Program. Each intern will be responsible for reviewing and familiarizing themselves to the four approaches to meal planning.  Interns will be assigned teams with an appointed scribe to complete the menu planning portion of the project.  As a group, a meal planning approach will be chosen for an associated age group applying the associated nutrition requirements into a five day menu for that specific age group served by these programs.  Each intern will be expected to participate equally in the group portion of this project.  A peer evaluation form for the group work will be completed by each intern upon completion of the project to evaluate each intern’s level of participation

 
 
Abstract
 
Rebecca and four other ARAMARK dietetic interns teamed up to complete a menu following the 2012 Child Nutrition Program nutrient standards. The interns came up with the theme of 'traveling the world in five days' to expose children to all different food cultures and how to eat healthy at the same time. The National School Lunch project allowed the interns to work effectively as a long- distance team, gain experience and knowledge on the Child Nutrition Program guidelines, nutrient analysis, and menu development.
